Refreshing Waters Church in Athens, Ohio

We had a wonderful time of ministry in Athens this weekend. My good friend Cody Alderson accompanied me to Pastor Bob & Lisa Crable’s church. Athens is a college town and there were a lot of college students present during the Sunday morning service. The Lord ministered powerfully during the altar service. For over an hour people kept coming up to the altar to receive from the Lord.

The worship service was beautiful. There is so much talent at Refreshing Waters church. I want to thank everyone for welcoming me with open arms to freely give what the Lord had put on my heart to say. Pastor Crable and his wife are precious friends to me. I cannot thank them enough for providing for both me and Cody while we were there. Great food, great fellowship and a great place to stay.

Saturday night Pastor Crable took us to a youth concert put on by the campus youth ministries. The talent is obvious and the love for the Lord evident. Seeing an altar call inside a college was encouraging.

We all need to pray for Pastor and Lisa Crable’s ministry in Athens. There is so much work to be done and warriors need to be raised to stand for the Lord and this spiritual fight we are in. I was encouraged that after the message there were those who came back to the Lord and rededicated their service to him. To God be all the glory for the work he is doing in Athens!

Please Pray

I will be preaching at Refreshing Waters Ministries church in Athens, Ohio this Sunday February 5, 2012. Athens is a college town and Pastor Crable at Refreshing Waters has planted a church there. Please pray for the church leadership and for the lost. Pray for me too.

Make A Joyful Noise!

“To the chief Musician, A Song or Psalm. Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.”
Psalms 66:1-2

How many times have you heard about singing  in church that we should be singing whether we have great voices or not? We probably hear someone encourage us to just make a joyful noise unto the Lord quite often. Many have probably heard it said in a humorous way when someone missed a note or was singing way off key. But what does it really mean? I heard a worship team member at a church tell me how they make a joyful noise. They did not have great confidence in their ability to sing.

The word “joyful noise” is translated from the Hebrew word rûa‛ pronounced roo-ah’. The Strong’s Lexicon defines it as:

“A primitive root; to mar (especially by breaking); figuratively to split the ears (with sound), that is, shout (for alarm or joy): – blow an alarm, cry (alarm, aloud, out), destroy, make a joyful noise, smart, shout (for joy), sound an alarm, triumph.”

I really like that part about splitting the ears. I have a hard time singing out loudly, especially when the song is not in a comfortable key for me. When I am alone I can belt out all kinds of tunes. I will admit that I am even embarrassed to purposely sing in front of my wife. However, I make up goofy songs all the time and sing them. They are usually about poking fun at something. Our two dogs are often targets of my little ditties. If it just me and the dogs at home, I will sing loudly. The dogs just look at me funny.

Then there are the times my wife will put me on the spot to remind her how a serious song goes and I just cannot find my voice. On top of that, I have a serious problem with my voice. I can only talk or sing for a few minutes before I get a bad pain in my throat. I begin to cough and then my voice is not right for several hours.

Up until I actually saw the definition of “joyful noise” I pretty much thought it best to leave the singing to those who can do it well. After all, who wants to be the object of a sideways look or that closing of eyes so tightly you know the person is trying to close their ears by closing their eyes. It is the same face people make when one runs their nails down a blackboard. Yes! That one you just made!

Taking a close look at the definition has me thinking that maybe all the good singers I have heard in my life who sing praises unto the Lord have been doing it all wrong. Okay, I’m kidding. Of course the Lord honors praises sung to him that come from the lips of those who have practiced and learned to sing well. Those who sing praise in that manner are a joy to us and the Lord. However, the truth of the matter is that the singer who in his heart is truly praising God is heard by the Lord as if his voice were perfect.

Think about it. The voice we have is made of flesh. The vocal chords in the voice box in your throat are just human tissue. The lungs that force the air over those vocal chords are just flesh. The spiritual being (YOU) who is taking control and driving that flesh to live out Godly purpose is the part that will remain. It is the YOU that will go to be with the Lord one day. It is the YOU that will be clothed upon with a new body one day.

Regardless of the the ability or disability we have in the voice of flesh, we should all stand and make that joyful noise. Go ahead . . . Split some ears!

They Said His Condition Was Treatable But Not Curable

Personal testimony Sent to Ruth Menhart. Used by permission. All praise, honor and glory be to God!

Hi Sister Ruth,

I wanted to write and say thank you! You and Brother Menhart have touched my life in so many ways whether you know it or not. I thank God for Pastor Frank following what God has called him to do.

This past year has been a struggle for my family. My husband was diagnosed with kidney failure at the age of 28. We have been praying and having faith that he would be healed. After being in and out out the hospital since June and going back and forth to doctors, they said his condition is treatable but not curable. When he went to the doctor last month he was losing 13 grams of protein every day in his urine. They said it would probably result in dialysis or a kidney transplant.

My husband is a believer but his faith struggles at times, and we have not been going to church as much as we should. When I told my husband Pastor Frank was coming, I said I don’t care if you go or not because I am going (ha ha). My husband told me that he wanted to to go because I have spoken highly about Pastor Frank since my husband and I started dating. As we were getting ready for church, I was praying that God would  use Pastor Frank to show my husband miracles can happen!

At the beginning of the service, Pastor Frank said someone was struggling with a blood disorder and that the person would be healed. At that moment my husband took my hand, and we prayed and believed that this was our answer.

My husband went back to his kidney specialist today and the doctor told him how he doesn’t know what happened, but he is getting better. He went from losing 13 grams of protein down to 6 grams in a month. My husband told the doctor he knew what happened. God healed him!

I have been struggling because I want my girls to be in church and grow up in church like I did. I wanted my husband to also be a part of that. My husband called me after he left the doctor and told me the great news. Praise God! He said he wanted to go to church every Sunday no matter what!

I thank you both for letting God lead you and guide you in your ministry.

Praise God! Tumors Healed!

Brother Frank got a word that someone was having pain in their right side (abdominal area). I told my family right away, that is me. I had been having pain for weeks. An ultrasound showed I had fibroid tumors.

I went forward and Frank prayed for me.

The pain was gone that day and has not returned.

My doctor told me a few weeks ago that the fibroids are all gone.

Praise the name of Jesus.

March of Dimes 2010

The Menhart family and some friends participated in this year’s March Of Dimes walk. The “Miracle Makenna” tee shirts proclaim God’s Power and give Glory to Him.

Makenna was born 3 1/2 months premature. Doctor’s gave up on her many times. There were times when the doctors advised Makenna’s mom (Gretchen) and dad (Jimmy) to just unhook her from the life support and to just hold her until she dies.

Jimmy spoke a word from God to the doctors. A proclamation of his faith in his Savior. Denying what this world was screaming at him, Jimmy spoke a declaration of faith when he said, “My God did not give up on me, and he certainly has not given up on Makenna either.”

Makenna celebrated her first year of life on April 1st. She is fine. God said so.

Some of the Menhart family (There's a lot of them!) and friends on March of Dimes day.

Makenna had a bout with some breathing problems recently. She went back to the hospital for a short stay. She's now back home and is fine.

To God be the glory!

Be Healed

Truly it is what the Lord has for those who serve Him. It is not by coincidence that the scripture states in 1 Peter 2:24  “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

There is a lot too healing. There is both physical and spiritual healing. Take some time to hear the Word of God preached tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday at Family Faith Assembly of God in Carmichaels, PA. Brother Frank is preaching there (April 23-25, 2010). It starts at 7:00 PM tonight and tomorrow night. Sunday is the 10:30 AM service only.

Reach out to God, and He will take you into His arms of love and mercy. Hope to see you there!
